Creative Careers - Creative Youth Network (2015)

Funded by National Lottery

This project was developed to offer creative employment programmes to young people in Bristol that were Not in Employment, Education or Training, The project partnered with local artists, creatives and creative organisations to deliver 6 creative projects a year, each one lasting 6 weeks. The partnerships included; Bristol Museum, St Peters Hospice, Dutty Girl, Arnos Vale Cemetary, Ape Project, Watershed. etc. Programmes included: Build a BMX Bike, Becaome a You Tuber,

All participants were able to gain a Bronze Arts Award.

The project ran for over two years and was a finalist at the CYP NOw Awards, UK.

Developed partnerships, wrote programme, managed all facilitators, recruitment of young people, evaluation & monitoring, delivery, safeguarding.

Dead & Buried (2014)

Funded by The Arts & Humanities Research Council.

Working with Dr Hannah Rumble and the Centre for Death & Society at the University of Bath. A participatory research project on the creative response of a group of NEET young people to Natural Burial.

Developed project with Dr Hannah Rumble, recruited young people & found partnership organisations, wrote and delivered workshops, curated exhibition

 

Chale Wote Festival Accra (2014)

'Perceptions of Death'. A participatory arts project working with a group of young people from James Town, Accra on a piece of work for Chale Wote Street Arts Fetsival. This was the first year that any children in the community of James Town had made their own piece to be included in the festival. Their piece signified their own perceptions of death. The project enabled me to research work undertaken by Ghanaian Artists and work collaboratively with artist Kofi Dawson.

Developed the idea, applied for funding, managed project, facilitated workshops, delivered the project to deadline.

 
 

Kumiko Community Art School (2013)

Funded by Arts Council England. An 18 month community art school at St Werburghs Community Centre, Bristol. Engaging over forty adults with a mental health need.

Developed the idea, completed funding bid, managed project, facilitated workshops.

 

Plastic Bottle Bird Project (2013)

Sevalaya School, Tamil Nadu, India. Worked with over 1000 children on a large recycling project engaging children in learning about waste plastic and enabling them to engage with their wider community; Chennai City. This project was developed and delivered over two months and the final outcome was over 1000 plastic bottle birds, made from waste found in their village, that were exhibited at the Russian Centre for Arts & Science Chennai.
