“Charlotte is a skilled and experienced arts manager who makes a great Project Co-ordinator and is an asset to any team. We have really appreciated her energy and efficiency in working on our projects - as well as her insight and imagination. It is good to know that our projects are in a ‘safe pair of hands’ when she is on the case.”
Kate Strudwick, Creative Project Manager, Head4Arts, South Wales.
“We commissioned Charlotte to work with year 5/6 schoolchildren as well as community groups in the build up to a large scale Music & Arts Festival. Her task was to engage children and family groups in creative activities; linking the right arts practitioners with the right groups, to create ‘an army of creatives’ we could utilise on the day of the event as well as producing a body of work that could be shown to event visitors. Charlotte’s objective was to create to body of 60-70 participants but ended up presenting us with 350 very happy, very engaged festival goers! There is no better testament to her skills than that!
Verity Ryan, Arts Development Manager, Torfaen County Borough Council, South Wales.
“Charlotte worked with us and our partners at Bristol Water to bring together a fantastic arts activity at the Festival of Nature 2013. Visitors were able to contribute to a giant wooden wildlife mural of the plants and animals found at Chew Valley Lake, which was then installed at the site as part of the opening of a new bird hide. Charlotte was a pleasure to work with throughout the project, and the end result looked brilliant. The project has since been shortlisted for a Business in the Community Arts and Business award, a great testament to Charlotte’s work. We look forward to working with her again in the future.”
Ben Connor, Bristol Natural History Consortium. Project Manager Bristol Festival of Nature.
"I have employed Charlotte numerous times over the last three years to run art workshops at the various events I organise. She has always been fantastic. She is organised and reliable, great with kids and has such wonderful creative ideas that inspire children to be creative too. I can't recommend her enough."
Gary Thomas. Manager of Children's Activities at Bristol Harbour Festival, Shambala Festival, St Paul's Carnival, Bristol Playday.
"We’ve been working with Charlotte as a freelance visual arts tutor at the Creative Youth Network now for the last year and she’s been involved in some innovative and initial projects at The Station. One project last year was working with a group of NEET (not in education, employment or training) young people to create wearable sculptures to be paraded in St Pauls Carnival 2013. Charlotte was fantastic at engaging with the young people and allowing them to explore new methods of expressing their creativity. Another programme that Charlotte has been involved in is the set up of the Urban Arts Space visual arts and photography sessions at The Station. Charlotte’s creative talent and understanding of young people’s needs allows her to facilitate sessions to the highest level.
Charlotte is a fantastic artist, tutor and confidant. She’s what we call ‘a triple threat’ – great at the admin side of things, an amazing tutor, and an inspirational artist."
Emily Bull, Programme Manager, The Station, Creative Youth Network, Bristol.
"Charlotte Chapman worked with 1000 high school students making birds out of old plastic water bottles and waste paper. In acouple of months she taught our children how to create wealth from waste – how to use all the waste material thrown in dust bins and around us can be used to make beautiful birds. 1000 birds were prepared, each one is different from the other. We had an exhibition in the city which was well attended by public. This was a great lesson in environment for our children."
Sevalaya Murali, Founder and Managing Trustee, Sevalaya School, Tamil Nadu, India.
“Charlotte always manages to create such a positive and engaging atmosphere with fun but simple arts which REALLY interests the public. She’s a gem.”
